Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have reached Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League. Captain Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal put on a 45-ball 107-run partnership for the fifth wicket as RCB defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets on Tuesday.
After Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 118 runs, Lucknow lost the toss and was invited to bat. RCB scored 230 runs in 8 balls.
RCB won this match and confirmed the meeting with Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1. Punjab and RCB remained in the top two positions with 19 points.
RCB will compete against Punjab on Thursday to reach the final. With 18 points, Gujarat will play against Mumbai in the eliminator.
Jitesh scored 85 off 33 balls, 8 fours and 6 sixes and Mayank remained unbeaten on 41 runs off 23 balls and 5 fours. Phil Salt scored 30 off 19 balls, Virat Kohli scored 54 off 30 balls with 10 fours and Rajat Patidar scored 14 off 7 balls.
Earlier, Pant hit 11 fours and 8 sixes while playing 61 balls. Pant, who became the most expensive player from the auction, did not perform well in the entire IPL this season, which was one of the reasons why Lucknow were eliminated from the playoff race. After defeating Gujarat in the last match, Lucknow has collected 12 points and finished the competition at the seventh place.
Pant and Mitchell Marsh shared 152 runs off 78 balls in the second wicket to give Lucknow a big score. Marsh hit 4 fours and 5 sixes in 37 balls.
