The Nepal Kurans Association is going to organize the 4th National Kurans Competition in Kathmandu this week. Jeevan Rai, Kawa president of the association, informed that three departmental teams Army, Police and APF and players from all seven provinces will participate in the competition at the multi-purpose martial art center in Nayabazar.

The competition is going to be held in Kathmandu for the second time. Earlier, the first edition was also held in Kathmandu.

There will be competition in 4 categories for women and men in senior and junior. Chairman Rai said that 220 athletes will participate in the competition in 22 weight groups. The top three winners of each weight group will receive a prize of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. There will also be a coach and referee seminar on Thursday before the

competition.

Kurans is an association registered in National Sports in 2073. Kuras, which is a traditional sport of Uzbekistan, is a type of martial art.

Head coach Praveen Karki informed that Nepal has already participated in international competitions such as Asian Games and Asian Championship.
