The Dream Team has become the champion in the 23rd Gorkha Cup football held at the Queens Avenue Sports Field in Aldershot, UK. In the final of the tournament, which ended at midnight on Sunday, Dream Team defeated Guruji Elliott Team by 4-2 goals in a tiebreaker. It was tied 1-1 at the scheduled time and the Dream Team won the title and 3,000 pounds prize money. The runner-up received £1,800.
Ishwar Gurung was chosen as the Best Player winner. Robel Nalbo of Guruji was the top scorer. Sakthim Chemjong of Dream Team was chosen as the best manager. Himalayan FC won 1500 pounds towards Vetran. Intake 2000 became the runner up. The team received a prize of 1,000 pounds. Himalayan won 4-0. Himalayan's Kumar Thapa became the Best Manager. Sandeep Gurung was selected as the top scorer. Himalayan's Khum Gurung became the best player.
On the women's side, Rander Bolts FC beat Tamang Samaj UK 3-0 to win the trophy with £600. The runner-up, Tamang Samaj, received 400 pounds. Garima Rai was adjudged the best player. The title of 'Football Legend of Gorkha Cup' has been given to Lokprasad Chemjong Dhankute. The winners were distributed by the organizer Tamu Dheem UK President Jumkaji Gurung, Nepali Ambassador to the UK Chandrakumar Ghimire, Rushmore Borough Council Mayor Calon Stewart, MP Alex Baker, footballer Savitra Bhandari and others.
