The first Mayor's Cup National Open Table Tennis Tournament is going to be held here in Banepa of Kavre from June 15th. Banepa Nagar Table Tennis Association is planning to organize the first Mayor's Cup National Open Table Tennis Tournament from 15th to 17th May.
In the competition, 4 groups have been divided into women/men under 18 years old, women/men open singles, masters single over 40 years old and masters single over 55 years old. Attractive cash prizes will be awarded to the winners in different groups. According to which the first, second and third place in the under 18 age group will be given 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 rupees respectively, while the first place in the open singles will get 40,000, the second place will get 20,000 and the third place will get 10,000 rupees. According to the organizers, the first, second and third place winners of
masters over 40 will be given cash prizes of 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 rupees respectively, and the first, second and third place winners in the over 55 age group will be given cash prizes of 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 rupees respectively. It is estimated that about 5 lakh rupees will be spent for the competition.
Giving information about the competition through a press conference, Banepa Nagar Table Tennis Association President Parameshwar Shrestha said that the main objective of the competition is to produce national level players from Banepa and Kavrepalanchok districts, to prepare players who can compete in the national competition even if they are in Mofsal, and to exchange skills and abilities.
Banepa City Chief Shanti Ratna Shakya said that the municipality has been conducting table tennis training program regularly for some time now and such a tournament will help to reveal the potential of the players. According to the organizers, players from all over the country are invited to participate in the competition.
