The 15th edition of the International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship (IOFTC) will be held in Nepal. It was informed in a press conference on Monday that the International Friendship Taekwondo Championship organized by IOFTC Nepal will be held at the Covered Hall of the National Sports Council (Rakhep) from January 3 to 5.

The head office of IOFTC is in Portland, USA. The International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship started in 2000 from Nepal. Now, on the occasion of 25 years since the competition started, it is going to be held again in Nepal. Four editions of the competition have already been organized in Nepal.

IOFTC headquarters organizes International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship every two years, Director of the organization Diwakar Dan Maharjan informed. According to him, alternately, one version of the competition is held in America and the other version is held outside the United States. Maharjan said that 5 editions have been organized in Portland and 1 in Michigan, 4 editions in Nepal, one each in India, UK, Hong Kong and South Korea.   Director Maharjan said that the goal is to make the 15th edition of the

competition, which is going to be held on the occasion of the silver year, special. Olympic gold medalist and World Olympic Taekwondo Federation president Moon Dai Sung and Kukiwon coach Min Hak Seo will come to Nepal during the competition. The Pumsey seminar to be held at that time will be conducted by the same trainer Seo. Giri Bahadur Sunar, Secretary General of IOFTC Nepal informed that more than 700 athletes from South Korea, America, Philippines, Australia, Austria, Canada, Pakistan, India, Hong Kong, China, Mexico, Maldives and other countries will participate in the

competition.

Senior men and women will compete in the same 8 weight groups. 10-10 in boys and girls for juniors  And cadets will compete in 10-10 weight groups. Senior, junior and cadet poomsies will compete in three events, individual, pair and team. Apart from this, it is said that the board breaking event is also included. A total of 65 gold medals will be contested in the competition. Maharjan, who is the grand master of

, reminded that this event was started with the aim that everyone can play in a situation where there are no open international taekwondo competitions in Nepal. He said that now the IOFTC has taken a big shape and said that this competition is open for all the players who wear Taekwondo uniform. He said that the budget of the

tournament is the main thing that comes from sponsors along with various agencies and player registration fees.
