In the 9th PM Cup NVA League, Gandaki Province continued its brilliant performance for men and won its third consecutive victory. Gandaki maintained its dominance in the competition by defeating the departmental team Nepal Police Club 3-0 in straight sets in the match held at the covered hall at Pokhara Stadium on Saturday.
Gandaki, consisting of three Pakistani players, made a clean sweep over Police with results of 25-22, 25-22 and 25-23. As Gandaki's performance remained strong in all three sets, Police could not get a chance to return to the game. By winning three matches in a row, Gandaki has strengthened its claim to the top position by adding 6 points.
In the next match on Saturday, Tribhuvan Army Club won the league for the first time. The exciting encounter with Manimukund Volleyball Club reached the fifth set and ended with the result of 3-2 in favor of the Army.
Manimukund had a good start by winning the first set 25-20. But after losing the second set 23-25, the match was tied at 1-1. In the third set, Manimukund maintained his lead by winning again 27-25. Then, in the fourth set, Army tied again 25-22. In the decisive fifth set, Army showed a strong performance and won the set 15-10 and turned the game in their favor. For the first time in this league, the match reached the fifth set.
Earlier Army Club was defeated by Gandaki Pradesh and Tip Top Help Nepal. With this victory, Army has managed to add its first point in the tournament.
Tip Top New Diamond, Nepal APF Club and Nepal Police Club won their second consecutive success in the women's match held on Saturday.
