The first Asian Mixed Boxing Tournament will be held next week under the joint initiative of Nepal Mix Boxing Association, Uma Nepal and Budhanilkanth Kungfu. The two-day tournament will be held at Budhanilkanth Banquet located in Budhanilkanth Municipality-3.
Sukman Lama, president of the organizer Mix Boxing Association, said in a press conference on Saturday that 150 athletes from six countries, namely Nepal, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, will participate in the tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Representatives from Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan will also come to Nepal for the competition.
In the competition held with the financial support of Budhanilkanth Municipality, there will be competition in 30 different competitions such as senior, sub-junior and junior. Athletes who have played any national martial arts tournament will be eligible to participate in the tournament. According to the organizer, about 31 lakh rupees will be spent for the
competition.
Budhanilkanth Municipality Mayor Mitharam Adhikari, Budhanilkanth Municipality Sports Coordinator and Chairman of Ward 8 Suman Tamang also announced the trophy of the competition. Mayor Adhikari said that the Budhanilkanth Municipality is conducting various activities with the development of sports and the interest of the players as the mediator. He said that cash prizes have been arranged for municipal sportsmen who win medals in international competitions and said that there is a plan to make sports in the city sustainable by making an annual calendar.
sports coordinator Tamang expressed his belief that the competition will help in tourism promotion and said that the support and cooperation of all concerned is necessary for the successful completion of the competition.
Mixed Boxing Association President Sukman Lama's Black Welt 4th Dan certificate received from UMA headquarters in UK was also presented.
