Youth Raj Budha and Sunmaya Budha from Jumla won the title of the fifth Rara Trail Run held at Raratal, a major tourist destination of Karnali. On the male side, Yuvakaraj from Kankasundari Rural Municipality-3 Lum and Sunmaya from Patarasi Rural Municipality-2 on the female side won the title.
Yuvkaraj won the title by covering the distance of 16 km in 1 hour 12 minutes 18 seconds. Som Bahadur Rawat of Kankasundari-1 won the second place by crossing the distance in 1 hour 14 minutes 19 seconds. Chandra Rawat from Kanakasundari-2 Jumla took the third place after clocking 1 hour 14 minutes 44 seconds.
For women, Sunmaya covered the distance of 16 km in 1 hour 24 minutes 18 seconds . Kalpana Budha of Patarasi-2 completed the distance in 1 hour 25 minutes 35 seconds and confirmed the second place. Rajya Lakshmi Rawal of Gutichour Rural Municipality-3 in Jumla won the third place after clocking 1 hour 25 minutes 46 seconds.
38 runners for women and 175 runners for men participated. Winners are all players from Jumla. For five years, the Nepali Army has been organizing the Rara Trail Run to highlight the beauty of Rara Valley. This time Rara Trail Run was organized by Army's Hanumandhwaj Gulm. The first, second and third place winners in the
trail run, women and men, have been awarded certificates with cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Chief District Officer Kamal Prasad Pandey, North-West Division of the Army Anupjang Thapa, Assistant Rathi Sanjay Deuja, Gulmapati Khim Bahadur Adhikari and others participated in the trail run.
Gulmpati Adhikari said trail run is being organized every year to spread the message that Karnali's Rara is not only full of natural beauty, but also very good in terms of sports tourism. This race is doing tourism promotion and publicity work, Gulmapati Adhikari said, 'It is also producing athletes.'
