The Nepali women's cricket team has lost the chance to win the first international title this time. Nepal lost to Thailand by 78 runs in the final match of the Asia Regional Qualifier of the Women's Twenty20 Cricket World Cup on Tuesday.

However, staying in the top two positions, Nepal and Thailand had confirmed their place in the Twenty-20 World Cup qualifiers.

Since entering the international cricket in 2007, the Nepali women's team has not won any title. In the course of participating in the first international tournament, Nepal lost to Bangladesh in the ACC women's cricket final held in Malaysia 18 years ago, which is the only final played by Nepal.

On the previous day, Nepal secured a place in the World Cup qualifiers by defeating UAE by a wicket. Reaching the Twenty20 World Cup qualification is the biggest success of Nepali women's cricket. Home team Thailand did not let Nepal's hope of reaching the global selection as the Asian champion be fulfilled. After Nepal won the toss at Trade Thai Cricket Ground in Bangkok, Thailand was invited to bat and scored 158 runs after losing 2 wickets in 20 overs. Thailand gave Nepal a challenging target by adding 60 runs in the last 5 overs.

Veterans Nathaya Buchatham and Afisara Suwanchonrathi got off to a great start by adding 75 runs in 13 overs. She scored 29 runs off 43 balls with 1 boundary and was dismissed by Rajmati Airi. Buchatham scored 50 runs off 42 balls with 5 fours. She was dismissed by Manisha Upadhyay.

Nanapat Koncharoinkai scored 50 runs and Nathakan Chantham remained unbeaten with 15 runs. Player of the match Nanapat hit 8 fours off 28 balls and Chantham hit 2 fours off 9 balls. After their efforts, Nepal's chances of defeating Thailand for the first time since 2011 were weak.

In response, Nepal lost 9 wickets and scored only 80 runs. Nepal lost the last 4 wickets in 5 runs. In that, Onicha Kamchomfu took a hat-trick wicket by dismissing Roma Thapa, Ishwari Bisht and Rhea Sharma in consecutive balls in the lower order. All the three batters refused to open the account. The opener, Jakkan Khadka 9 and Ruby Podar got out for 4 runs. Kavita Kunwar scored the highest 24 runs from Nepal. She hit 1 boundary in 33 balls and was run out in the 14th over. While Nepal's score was 52/5. Captain Indu Burma was dismissed for 7 and Pooja Mahato for 0. Rajmati, who was retired after scoring 6 runs, scored 20 runs in 27 balls with 2 fours. Rubina Chhetri was dismissed for 12 runs off 16 balls with 1 boundary.

Kamchomfu took 4 wickets at the cost of 11 runs keeping 1 maiden in 4 overs. Thipatcha Suthirueng took 3 wickets and Suliporn Laomi took 1 wicket.
