Three players and coaches from the same ward are companions of a historic moment
The Nepali women's cricket team has made history by making it to the global qualifiers of the Twenty20 World Cup for the first time. Credit for this historic success goes to the entire team. However, there is a feature in this achievement - three players and a coach from the same ward are not only witnesses of this journey, but are the pillars of this journey.
The dream that arose from the far eastern city of Kakadvitta has become a national pride today. Rubina Chhetri, former captain of Jhapa Mechinagar-6, Savanam Rai and Roma Thapa (wicketkeeper) have been contributing to the national team for a long time. Along with them, Manoj Katuwal, the head coach of the same ward, has taken Nepali women's cricket to a historic stage.
With the organized efforts of these four people, Nepal defeated UAE on Monday in the Asia Regional Qualifier Super Three and made it to the World Cup Global Qualifier .
Three players are from the same ward. Rubina and Savanam have the same toll. All three national players are products of Milan Cricket Club. They have perfected their sportsmanship by practicing at the local Kakadvitta ground. Raised from a small town, they have now reached the doorstep of international cricket.
Mechinagar-6's Rubina, Sawnam and Roma have been playing as an important part of the national team for a long time. Kajol Shrestha, Sangeeta Rai and Apsari Vegam are also national cricketers from the same ward.
In this tournament, Rubina Chhetri along with captain Indu Burma shared an important partnership of 37 runs against UAE . She scored 23 runs in 18 balls. Which brought Nepal close to victory . With Rubina's old nature of playing patiently during crisis, the rhythm of the game has returned to Nepal.
Savanam Rai and Roma Thapa also managed to maintain the overall balance of the team through their performance in the group stage match. Savanam is basically a right-arm fast bowler. Roma wicket keeper .
Rubina said that the mutual understanding between the players and their dedication to the team has strengthened Nepal.
