Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glessner believes his players have given the club's supporters the greatest joy of their lives. Palace beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup, coincidentally the first major title in the club's history. Iberci Eze scored the decisive goal in that victory in the first half.

Palace then stifled City's attack in such a way that Pep Guardiola's men could do nothing. Its prize remains, now Palace will also play in the Europa League next season. "We wanted to write a new history," says Glessner, "I think we have written a new chapter in that history." Palace's start in the league was not good. There was only one win in the first 13 games.

Gleason says, 'At that time, he remained as one-sided as a player, whenever he should play with restraint, something or the other would happen. I give a lot of credit to the supporters. Just three points in eight games. At that time supporters get impatient, there are only complaints everywhere. But our supporters were always on our side. Just 3-4 weeks ago we conceded ten goals in the space of four days, five against City and five against Newcastle United. We conceded five goals in 60 minutes against Newcastle but our supporters kept cheering the team on. This is it, a special relationship.'

The 50-year-old Glessner, who took charge of Selhurst Park for the first time for a full season, claims, 'Something special was being built in the club towards the winter season. This is exactly what I felt. I thought, we can absorb some special success. No one has special tools to achieve success. As we knew, the players are all talented. The club had its own history. Everyone worked together, the working environment was incredible.

The Palace supporters cheered with great enthusiasm and voice after the final at Wembley was also special, Glessner believes.

is to give life-long happiness to its supporters. We have given our supporters in South London the biggest treat of their lives. Supporters may have problems at home, we want to forget those problems for a moment.'

Glessner won the Europa League for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021/2022. Now he can try to win the same title again because next season Palace will play in Europe, as a new destination. Palace have only played in Europe once before and that was in the 1998 Intertoto Cup. Now next season we are starting a new chapter. We're really going to play in Europe, let's see what happens.' If they pick up just one point from the next game, Palace can claim the most points in the club's history. Palace's focus will now be on Tuesday's game against Wolves. But for the time being, Glessner can only be happy, after all, he is the coach who won the first title for the club. Of course I want to celebrate. I will celebrate this happiness in detail and I believe it will take the right direction," he added.
