Khokho's Rajan Bal and Karate's Erica Gurung have been declared the Sportsmen of the Year of Bagmati Province. The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Bagmati Province Government awarded Khokho Ball as the best male athlete and Karate Gurung as the best female athlete of the year at Huprachaur located in Hetaunda-4 on Sunday evening.
The Ministry has awarded Bagmati Province Sports Awards to 12 people in eight different categories. Jeet Bahadur KC and Baikunth Manandhar of Athletics have been honored with the Life Time Achievement Award. Kaviraj Negi of Para Taekwondo was awarded as the best trainer and journalist Shyam Chitrakar was awarded as the best journalist.
Ayush Ghalan of football, Salina Shrestha of volleyball and Santoshi Shrestha of athletics were honored as popular players. Shangeeta Vaidya Bagmati of Taekwondo, Palesa of Para Taekwondo Govardhan was the best Para Taekwondo player, Sadbhava Acharya was the young player of golf and Vinod Maharjan, the chairman of Lalitpur District Sports Development Committee, was awarded the best district sports development committee chairman.

Youth and Sports Minister Meenkrishna Maharjan said that the state government has organized the award for the first time with the aim of encouraging and honoring the athletes.
