Preparations for the Gurkha Cup in Britain are complete

Britain's prestigious Gorkha Cup is going to be held on Sunday, May 25 (Jeth 11). According to the organizer Tamu Dheem UK, preparations for the 23rd edition of the Gorkha Cup have reached their final stage.

The organizers informed about the Gorkha Cup through a press conference held at their own building in Michet on Saturday. 32 men, 16 veterans and 2 women's teams will compete in the Gorkha Cup. Organizers said that although 42 teams applied in the main category and 18 teams in the veteran category, they could not accept all of them. For the

main categories, the winner will receive 3,000 pounds, the runner-up will receive 1,800 pounds, the veteran winner will receive 1,500 pounds and the runner-up will receive 1,000 pounds. Jumkaji Gurung, president of Tamudhi UK, informed that 600 pounds will be given to the winner and 400 pounds to the runner-up, as well as trophies and certificates.

The football tournament, which will be conducted on the same day at the Queen's Avenue Sports Field in Aldershot, Hampshire, will start from 9:30 in the morning and end at 8:00 in the evening, said Deepak Ghale, the organization's sports secretary and Gorkha Cup coordinator. According to him, the Gorkha Cup, which was started in 1996 with the 7A side, has reached the 23rd edition and has become the best and biggest event organized by Nepali abroad.

Gorkha Cup will feature a parachute display, live presence of Savitra Bhandari (Samba), the first female national player from Nepal to play in Europe, Gorakh Ghale and England football team players. 

Similarly, cultural program, health camp (with dental check-up) will be held, according to the organizer. Dilmaya Gurung, the stall coordinator and vice president of the organization, said that a total of 125 stalls including commercial, charity and police stalls will be kept on this occasion.

Gorkha Cup is estimated to cost 90,000 pounds. Organizers said that 75,000 was spent last year and this year it will be increased. The organizers expect 15 to 20 thousand participants this year. Vishal Gurung said.

Through a press conference, Tamudhin UK President Gurung appealed to the British people to participate in the Gorkha Cup.
