Rahep's letter to CAN to stop the special general meeting of the Lumbini Provincial Union

The National Sports Council has sent a letter to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Tuesday to stop the special general meeting of the Lumbini Provincial Cricket Association scheduled to be held on June 3. A special general meeting was convened on Saturday with the signatures of 33 out of 40 members to pass the no-confidence motion against state president Sanjay Gurung.

According to the copy of the letter addressed to the Chairman of CAN regarding the cancellation of the regulations that are in conflict with the law and the review of the decision by the Provincial President Gurung and the request made by Gurung to stop the entire process of motion of no confidence on May 21 and review the decision, the council instructed to postpone the special general meeting.

It is said in the front of the letter, "It is requested to provide the facts and how the regulations of the Provincial Cricket Association were approved within 7 days from the date of receipt of the letter and to postpone the Annual General Meeting of the Lumbini Provincial Cricket Association until the matter is resolved." Expressing his displeasure, he filed a no-confidence motion and informed Can about this.

On the basis of CAN's registered letter, CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand wrote a letter in the name of Vice President Bhandari on 3rd Baisakh, instructing him to proceed with the letter of no confidence. Provincial Chairman Gurung has seriously objected to the decision of not holding the CAN meeting.

President Gurung of Lumbini Province held a press conference in the capital on Wednesday and accused CAN leadership, especially President Chand, of openly working against him to fulfill his interests. Former national cricket player and international umpire Gurung claimed that after the successful completion of the Prime Minister's Cup National Cricket Tournament in Lumbini Province, a motion of no confidence was registered against him without any process.

'In the next 6-7 months, 21 district elections are being held. There will also be elections for 7 districts of Lumbini province. This kind of activity is now being done to capture the province. A member who was in CAN yesterday is nowhere to be found, so they are going to make him the state president in a roundabout way,' said Gurung, 'Unrest in CAN has increased when individuals are running the union instead of the working committee.' Gurung said that a bad process has started in Nepali cricket and unfortunately he is a victim of it today.

The series of motions of no confidence started in Lumbini and Gurung alleged that the Chand group was trying to make a similar political game in Sudurpaschim Province and Koshi Province as well.
