Nepal's former coach Pubudu Dasanayake has again become the coach of the United States. USA Cricket said on Wednesday that it was delighted to reinstate the 54-year-old Dasanayake. Dasanayake previously coached the US men's cricket team from 2016 to 2019.
In Sokram, USA made the journey from World Cricket League Division 4 to One Day Internationals. Dasanayake, a Canadian national who has played 11 Tests for Sri Lanka, has coached him twice in three different countries. Under his coach, Canada played in the 2011 ODI World Cup.
Then he came to Nepal. During Dasanayake's tenure, Nepal, which was in Division 4, played through Division 2 to qualify for the ODI World Cup and created a sensation by playing in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2014. Then he went to America. He was a coach in America for 3 years and came back to Nepal at the end of 2021. But his tenure with Nepal did not last even 6 months.
After that, he became the coach of Canada. Under Dasanayake's coaching, Canada played in the Twenty20 World Cup for the first time last year. He was fired as Canada's coach after the World Cup. Dasanayake was the consultant coach of the Nepalese team when Nepal toured America in October-November.
Under Dasanayake's training, Janakpur Boltus won the Nepal Premier League cricket title of the first season in November-December.
