DAV School and Gateway Academy will meet in the final of the second Jayakumarnath Shah Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament. In the semi-finals of the tournament, which is also the basis for Kathmandu District U-16 selection, DAV defeated Sainik Residential College by 6 wickets and Gateway defeated Mokshada School by 131 runs.
DAV chased down the target of 93 runs in 15.5 overs in the semi-final at Moolpani Lower Cricket Ground. Famous Jaisi scored 53 off 38 balls and Kamal Shahi played an unbeaten innings of 17 runs off 19 balls to make DAV the winner. Satyam Basnet was dismissed for 11 runs off 19 balls. Sainik's Shubham Bista, Sameer KC and Saphal Poudel took 1 wicket each. Earlier, Sainik, who batted first, could only make 92 runs after losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Gaurav Karki scored 30 runs in 53 balls, Rishu Shah scored 14 runs in 8 balls and Sushant Nepal scored 11 runs in 12 balls. Kamal of DAV took 3 wickets and famous and popular Paudel took 1-1 wickets.
Sabir Ansari's century saw Gateway score 2 hundred and 4 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the Trivi Cricket Ground. Player of the match Sabir scored an unbeaten 114 runs off 60 balls. Amit Patel scored 60 off 60 balls. Ishan Shah Subedi took both the wickets from Mokshada. Ishan scored 33 runs off 22 balls but Mokshada was bowled out for 73 runs in 20 overs. Gateway's Paras Bishta, Laxman Bhurtel and Simon Pant took 2 wickets each. The final will be on Monday.
