A former karate player living in Australia has launched the Everest Martial Arts Academy. Mukundra Maharjan, a gold medalist in the fifth, sixth and seventh national games as well as a bronze medal in the South Asian Games (SAG), is the president of the academy established in Granville, Sydney.
Lakshmi Bhatt is the vice president, Rojan Karki is the secretary and public officer, Mallika Thapa Chhetri is the membership coordinator, Som Lama is the treasurer, Manish Thapa Chhetri is the program director, Rajkumar Rasaili is the PR officer, Navin Maharjan is the competition coordinator and Prince Maharjan is the member.
Navin Saag is a gold and Rajkumar bronze medalist at the Games. Others have also won various national and international medals.
President Maharjan said that the academy was launched with the aim of attracting Nepali children in Sydney to the game as well as producing new players. Our main objective is to attract Nepali children in Sydney to the game. It is our wish to produce good players from the academy,'' President Maharjan said, 'This academy has brought Nepalese players together. Through this, it is easy to support the development of Nepali athletes and sports in an institutional manner.'
