In the opening match of the inter-municipality football tournament organized by Mathagadhi Rural Municipality, which started on Friday, Tinau Rural Municipality beat Bagnaskali Rural Municipality by 5-1 goals.
Ashwin Sharma, a player from Tinau Rural Municipality, scored 5 goals alone. Lakhan Disha Magar of Bagnaskali equalized the goal of Sharma who scored within 3 minutes of the start of the game. But Ashwin added 4 goals and became the player of the match. 6 teams from Bagnaskali and Tinau Rural Municipality as well as Tansen and Rampur Municipalities and the organizer Mathagadhi are participating in the
competition. Khem Bahadur Saru, Minister of Health of Lumbini Province inaugurated the competition which started at Kaseni Sarai Sports Ground and emphasized that such competitions should be held to encourage the players.
He stressed that there are many examples of players who are prepared from the lower level and become famous not only in the upper level but also in foreign countries. Mathagadhi rural municipality chairman Yam Bahadur Chidi said that among the various playgrounds in the hilly district, the Kaseni Sarai playground has been developed as a playground not only for the rural municipality but also for the Palpa district. He said that he has requested budget from the state and federal government for the development of the playground.
Sports coordinator Tej Bahadur Gharti said that the tournament was organized to promote Mathagadhi Rural Municipality in the field of sports and to encourage players. Gharti, who is also the ward president of Ward No. 3, said that although Mathagadhi Cup football tournament was organized in the past, this time it was inter-municipal. As a result, he believes that there will be learning in the game between the municipalities. In the
competition, the first winner will get 1 lakh, the runner-up will get 75,000 and the third winner will get 50,000 Nad along with a shield, certificate and medal, said Education Branch Coordinator Prakash Pathak.
