A rare sight was seen in Bangkok on Saturday during the match between UAE and Qatar in the Asian Qualifiers of Women's Twenty20 Cricket World Cup. All 10 batters of UAE were 'retired out'. For the first time, more than 2 players have been 'retired out' in men's and women's international cricket matches.
UAE batting after winning the toss had added 192 runs without loss. Captain Isha Ojha scored 113 runs in 55 balls with 14 fours and 5 sixes and Thirtha Satish scored 74 runs in 42 balls with 11 fours. After that, as the chances of rain increased, UAE wanted to finish the innings and bring as many results as possible in the game. But there is no rule to declare an innings in a limited overs game. After that, all the UAE players were 'retired out' in 192 runs.
UAE then bowled out Qatar for 29 runs in 11.1 overs and won the match by 163 runs. 7 players from Qatar were 'docked out'. 8 players were 'ducked out' in UAE's innings as well. This has set a record for most wickets in a single match in Women's Twenty20 Internationals. 8 batters of UAE were 'retired out' without facing the ball.
