Bagmati Rural Municipality has been eliminated from the inter-municipal Godavari Mayor's Cup football tournament. They became the first team to be eliminated from the Bagmati tournament by losing 5-1 to Mahalakshmi Municipality on Wednesday at Chaisal Stadium in Lalitpur.
With the win, Mahalakshmi has kept alive the possibility of reaching the semi-finals. Mahalakshmi's Siddhant Adhikari scored two goals while Ramakrishna Chaudhary, Amrit Chand and Sanam Dhital scored one goal each. Dilip Ghalan of Bagmati returned the goal.
In the 36th minute of the game, Mahalakshmi took the lead with Ramakrishna's goal. Amrit doubled the lead in the 46th minute. Sanam scored in the 67th minute and Siddhant scored in the 77th minute. Siddhant's goal was a penalty. Dilip scored back from Bagmati in the 79th minute. In the injury time, Siddhant scored his second personal goal and Mahalakshmi went ahead 5-1. Bagmati missed the chance to reduce the goal gap when Ayush Lama missed the penalty in injury.
In the first match, Mahalakshmi lost 6-1 against host Godavari Municipality and will now play against Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality. Bagmati defeated Lalitpur Mahanagara 7-3 in the previous match and has yet to compete against Godavari Municipality in the last match.
In Group A, Godavari, Lalitpur Mahanagar and Mahalakshmi have 3 points each. Godavari is at the top in goal difference.
