The departmental team has entered the finals of the Women's National Gold Cup football tournament held at Nepal Police Club Makwanpur.
In the first semi-final match held at Gauritar Stadium located in Hetaunda-6 on Tuesday morning, Police came close to winning the title by defeating Chitwan's women's team 7-0.
Meena Deuba and Nirma Upadhyay scored a hat-trick in Police's victory. Deuba completed the hat trick by scoring in the 21st, 40th and 59th minutes of the game while Upadhyay scored in the 34th, 66th and 80th minutes. Sushma Tamang scored another goal for Police in the 45th minute. Deuba, who performed well in the
game, was declared the player of the match. She received Rs 10,000 as a prize.
Police Club, which has entered the finals, will now face the winner of the departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) and Sankat Club for the title on Thursday. The semi-final match between APF and Sankata Club will start at 3:30 PM on Tuesday. The winner of the
competition will receive a shield, medal and certificate along with Rs 5 lakh and the runner-up will receive Rs 3 lakh.
