Godavari Mayor's Cup: Kathmandu and Lalitpur metropolis won

Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitan Corporation won the second valley-wide inter-municipal Godavari Mayor's Cup football tournament on Monday.

In another match, Dakshinkali Municipality defeated Kageshwari Manohara Municipality. Due to rain, a match at the Godavari Multi-Purpose Stadium in Godavari-10 was postponed on Sunday and was played at Chasal ground. In that match, Lalitpur Mahanagar defeated Bagmati Rural Municipality with 7-3 goals. 

Rafeel Marhajan and Neeraj Marhajan from Lalitpur 2-2,  Sunny Vyanjankar, Vishal Baniyan and Naveen Karmacharya scored 1 each. From Group A, Godavari Nagar and Lalitpur Mahanagar have collected 3 points each. Bagmati Rural Municipality and Mahalakshmi Municipality are without points. 

Kathmandu Metropolitan City defeated Changunarayan Municipality by 5-0 in the match which was conducted by ANFA. From defending champion Kathmandu, Raj Paudel scored 2 goals, Akhilesh Karki, Saroj Tamang and Viraj Marhajan scored 1 each.

While preparations were being made to play in Godavari, suddenly it rained again, and the match was moved to the ANFA complex ground in Satdobato.

Dakshinkali Municipality defeated Kageshwari Manohara Municipality by 5-0 in the only match at Godavari Multipurpose Stadium on Monday. Dakshinkali's Amit Tamang completed the hat-trick. One goal was an own goal when Naveen Karmacharya added a goal.   

13 municipalities in the valley are participating in the competition that will last until the 3rd of June. The winner will get a prize of Rs 5 lakh and the runner-up will get Rs 3 lakh.
