Army and Gandaki Province reached the finals of the National Men's Hockey Tournament on Tuesday. In the first semi-final held at Chasal Stadium in Lalitpur, Kasiraj Rai's hat-trick goal saw Army defeat newcomers APF Club by 6-0 goals. Rajendra Karki scored 2 goals and Pradeep Rajwanshi scored 1 goal for Army.
Army's Devsingh Dhami was the player of the match.
With entering the final, Army is on a mission to win a double title. Army won the national women's hockey title by defeating Gandaki on Monday.
In the other semi-final of the tournament organized by Nepal Hockey Association, Gandaki beat Nepal Police Club 2-1 in penalty shootout. Gandaki's Jason Rai was the player of the match. The game was decided by a penalty shootout after the scheduled time was scoreless. In the
shootout, Gandaki's Sangam Ghartimagar and Asim Bahik scored goals. Vivek Gurung, Kushal Nepali and Sonu Khan failed to score. Apart from Suraj Bohra of Police, others could not take advantage of the scoring opportunity. Navraj Khatri, Suresh Prasad Joshi, Ayush Shah and Sunil Rana failed to score. The final will be held on Wednesday.
