Gandaki province won the second victory for women in the national men's and women's hockey tournament. On Friday, Gandaki defeated Madhesh province by 2-1 goals at Chaisal Rangshala in Lalitpur. Mayuri Rai scored two goals in Gandaki's victory. She was also the player of the match. Geeta Kumari of Madhesh scored one goal.
This is Gandaki's second win in the women's match which is being held on the basis of round robin league. Along with Gandaki, four teams namely Tribhuvan Army Club, Madhes Province and Bagmati Province are participating. After the league, the top two teams will compete for the title.
With two wins, Gandaki has strengthened the possibility of reaching the final.
Army and Karnali region won for men. Army in group 'A' won 10-1 against Madhesh Pradesh. Manoj Chaudhary scored a hat-trick in Army's victory. Player of the match Rajendra Karki and Amar Bahadur Gurung scored 2 and Devsingh Dhami, Pradeep Rajwanshi and Kashiraj Rai scored 1 each.
