Mumbai Indians climbed to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday. Mumbai defeated Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs on Thursday. Rajasthan are out of the playoff race after suffering their eighth defeat in 11 matches. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings have also been eliminated from the playoffs.

After losing 3 of their first four matches, Mumbai won their sixth consecutive match to reach the top. After winning 7 out of 11 matches, Mumbai has strengthened its chances of securing a place in the playoffs. 

Mumbai, who lost the toss and came into bat at Sabai Mansingh Stadium, lost 2 wickets and scored 217 runs in the scheduled 20 overs. Openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma scored half centuries. Rickelton scored 61 off 38 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes and Rohit scored 53 runs off 36 balls with 9 fours.

Suryakumar Yadav and captain Hardik Pandye, who came after these two got out, added 94 runs in the last 44 balls. Both remained unbeaten on 48 runs off the same 23 balls. Suryakumar hit 4 fours and 3 sixes and Hardik hit 6 fours and 1 six. 

In response, Rajasthan were bowled out for 117 runs in 16.1 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a century in the previous match, was dismissed for a wicket by Deepak Chahar in the second ball. Mumbai scored 47 runs in the first 5 overs and lost 5 wickets. Jofra Archer, who batted in the lower order, scored the highest 30 runs. He hit 2 fours and a six off 27 balls. Captain Rian Parag 16, Nitish Rana 9, Dhruv Jurel 11, Shivam Dubey were out for 15 runs. 

Simran Hetmyer was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah on the first ball. He also dismissed Parag in that over. Trent Boult and Karan Sharma took 3 wickets each. Sharma spent 23 runs in 4 overs and Boult 28 runs in 2.1 overs. Bumrah spent only 15 runs in 4 overs.
