Nominations in four categories were announced on Wednesday for the ninth Pokhara Sports Award to be held on May 26 in Pokhara. Sports journalist forum Gandaki held a press conference and announced the nominations in 4 out of 7 categories.
Under the award, Biswas Adhikari (Nawalpur) of volleyball, Pradeep Khadka (Kaski) of tennis and Sumit Shrestha (Kaski) of football have been nominated as the best player of the year for men. Volleyball's Aruna Shahi (Kaski), fencing's Kripa Gurung (Syangja) and ITF Taekwondo/Muathai's Sushmita Thapa Magar (Bagalung) have been nominated for the best female player of the year.
Badal Karki (Bagalung) of athletics, Jit Bahadur Sarki (Syangja) of volleyball, and Rachna Choudhary (Kaski) of cricket have been nominated for the emerging player of the year. Niraj Thapa (Kaski) of tennis, Ramesh KC (Sangja) of volleyball and Rajendra Tamang (Kaski) of football are on the list of nominees in the best coach of the year category.
Apart from these, Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to leading figures in the field of sports, said MB Aastha Magar, president of the forum. He said that the best sports journalist of the year and the best sports organization or club of the year will be awarded at the award ceremony. "The award has been given since 072 to boost the morale of the players and add energy to them," he said. The
platform will provide one electric scooter each to male and female athletes of the year. The general secretary of the forum, Parashuram Sharma, said that those who will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award will be given a silver karawa and a copper plate. nominations, ex-international boxing player and tourism businessman Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai said that when young people migrate abroad, it has a great impact on the sports sector as well.
