The departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club achieved double success in the national men's and women's hockey tournament on Wednesday. Both men's and women's teams of Army have won at Chaisal Stadium in Lalitpur organized by Nepal Hockey Association.
On the men's side, Army won 3-0 over Gandaki Province in Group 'A'. Army's Pradeep Rajvanshi, Kashiraj Rai and Devsingh Dhami scored goals. Roshan Chaudhary was the player of the match.
In the Leaguecom knockout competition, Madhesh and Koshi Pradesh are in Group A along with Army and Gandaki. Group 'B' has Nepal Police Club, Karnali Province, APF and Bagmati Province. APF is a new team in hockey.
Group 'B' Police got off to a good start by defeating Karnali 9-0. Ayush Shah and Suresh Prasad Joshi of Police scored 2 goals, Shankar Ghartimar, Navraj Khatri, Suraj Bohra, Kashiram Khatri and Amit Ojha scored 1 each. Ayush became the player of the match. For women, Army, Gandaki, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces are participating. The competition is based on round robin league. After the round robin league, the top two teams will compete for the title. Army won 7-0 over Madhesh Pradesh. Seema Khadka and Kamala Chand completed hat-tricks and Army registered a comfortable victory. Nilima Pandey had one goal. Police's Kamala Chand was the player of the match. The
tournament was inaugurated by National Sports Council (Rakhep) vice president Dhruv Acharya, Rakhep board member and general secretary of Hockey Association Suvarna Shrestha, board members Anjan Dhamala and Jagatsingh Dhami among others.
The top three teams for both men and women will receive 75,000, 50,000 and 25,000 rupees respectively. The best player in the category will get 5000.
