Nepali karate player Santosh Rai has won a silver medal in the Hiraldo Kai International Karate Championship held in America.

Santosh won silver in the senior singles category at the championship held in Corona, New York.

Santosh won silver in the EKF Open Karate Series held in England last year. This year  Santosh won a medal in his first international championship.

After losing to America's Karnado in the finals, Santosh clinched the silver. Santosh said that winning a medal in the first international championship this year has added to his excitement.

He defeated Belghimi Karim in the semi-final and Pablinia Geromi in the quarter-final. As for the fight in the championship, coach Sunil Lama informed that he was defeated in the semi-finals.

He also competed in the US Open held in Las Vegas. There, he was defeated on the basis of sensu after equaling points with Egyptian players in the quarterfinals. Santosh Ichangu is the head of Doja.
