APF easy win over Bagmati in MM Cup ODI

The APF Club of the Armed Police Force won the first victory in the third edition of the Manmohan Memorial One Day National Cricket Tournament. APF defeated Bagmati Province by a wide margin of 8 wickets in the Sunday match of the tournament organized by MM Cup Foundation Sunsari.

After losing the toss at Girija Prasad Koirala Cricket Stadium in Baijnathpur, Biratnagar, Bagmati lost the toss and batted first. Bagmati opener Ashutosh Ghiraiah, who had a bad start, was bowled by Dewan Pun for zero runs in the third ball of the first over.

Bhojraj Bhatt did not allow Suman Sunar, who came in after that, to open his account as he was caught out by Deepak Bohora in the second over. Bagmati had to spend 3 wickets to add 13 runs after the batsman Uttam Thapamar got out after scoring 10 runs in the fifth over.

Another opener captain Rit Gautam shared a 33-run partnership with batsman Vivek Ranamar, who came at number four, but Bagmati's efforts, which were moving towards a respectable score, suffered another setback. Ranamargar was dismissed for 13 runs. Although Gautam scored 31 runs, the other batsmen could not score runs in double figures, so Bagmati was reduced to 80 runs. On the bowling side, Prakash Jaisi took 4 wickets in APF. Abhishesh Gautam took 3 wickets and Bhojraj Bhatt took 2 wickets. APF easily achieved the small target of 81 runs losing 2 wickets in 9.4 balls. APF's  Deepak Bohra played an innings of 48 not out and captain Sumit Maharjan won by 18 runs.

Biplav Ghosh, president of the foundation, informed that Monday's match will be between Army and Bagmati Province. Six teams including one Indian team have participated in the competition. The winner of the competition, which will run until May 20, will get four lakhs in cash and the runner-up will get two lakhs and a trophy. According to the organizers, the best player will be given 25,000 cash and the best batter and bowler will be given 15,000 rupees each.
