9 gold to the police

Nepal Police Club has won the team champion trophy in the first Sher Bahadur Deuba Cup National Karate Tournament. Police won the trophy by winning 9 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.

APF came second with 4 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze. Tribhuvan Army Club bagged the third position with 3 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze. Bagmati, Koshi and Madhesh provinces won 1 gold medal each. The team champion police received Rs 2 lakh, APF Rs 1 lakh and Army got Rs 50,000.

Police's Erica Gurung won gold in the above 68 kg weight category on Saturday. She easily defeated Lumbini's Diya Thapa by 9-0. Police's Savina Shrestha also won gold in the women's 55 kg category. She defeated Sonu Shrestha 16–8 in the final. Bagmati Pradesh's Anjali Maharjan won the 55 kg gold by defeating Priyanka Shahi 9-3 in the final.

Men's under 75 kg Rajeev Pudasaini of Police was the winner. He defeated Army's Sibu Od in the final. Rakesh Manandhar of Madhesh won gold in 50 kg by defeating Dipesh Rai of Koshi Pradesh in the final. Yal Karate Sitoryo Do organized the tournament with the support of Provincial Sports Development Council, Bagmati.
