On the occasion of the International Year of Cooperatives, the National Cooperative Federation is going to hold the second Prabhu Mahalakshmi Open FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament.

The competition will be held on May 25 and 26 in Lalitpur. The main sponsor of the competition is Prabhu Mahalakshmi Life Insurance. Earlier, the first edition was held on 15th June 2080. Sudeep Tamang from Kathmandu was the winner. The

competition will be supported by the Nepal Buddhichal Sangha  . It is said that more than 150 players will participate in the competition this year. The winner will receive a prize of 40 thousand rupees. The winner will get a term life insurance facility worth Rs 10 lakh for one year.

The second player will get insurance worth Rs 25,000 and Rs 7 lakh. The third place will get insurance worth Rs 15,000 and Rs 5 lakh for one year. Top 10 players will be given cash prizes. Among the best three female players, the winner will receive 7,000, the second 6,000 and the third 5,000.

The best veteran, unrated, U-16, U-18, best cooperative player, best insurance player and others will also get cash prizes. According to the National Cooperative Federation, the competition was held with the aim of contributing through intellectual games like intelligence to promote the importance of cooperative movement and the spirit of cooperation through

game.
