Nepal Police Club has won the title of the 8th KNP Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial National Women's Volleyball Tournament.
Police won the title for the first time by defeating APF 3-0 in straight sets in the final at Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwar on Saturday. APF is a 6-time champion team.
Pulisus won the title by defeating in sets of 25-15, 25-23, 25-16. Police's Kamala was again declared the player of the match. APF won the first 5 editions and the seventh edition. New Diamond Sports Club, the champion of the sixth edition, was defeated in the semi-finals this time.
Police went undefeated and became champions. Police did not lose any set until the title journey. Police beat New Diamond by 25-14, 25-22, 25-13 in the league and Tribhuvan Army Club by 25-6, 25-22, 25-23 in the semi-finals. In the
league, APF defeated Army and Everest Volleyball Club by 3-0 in straight sets and defeated New Diamond 3-1 in the semi-finals.
New Diamond came third in the competition organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation. The team beat Army 25-19, 25-12, 15-18. Diamond's Salina Budha Magar became the player of the match.
The winner got Rs. 5 lakh, the runner-up got Rs. 250,000 and the third place got Rs. 125,000. Kamana Bista of Police was declared the best player. Kamana got 50,000 prize. Kamna won an air ticket for Kathmandu-Bangkok-Kathmandu. In
category, Niruta Thagunna of APF was the best in spiker, Poonam Chand of Police in Blocker, Kamala Pun of Police in Setter, Shantikala Tamang of Police in Libero, Pooja Chaudhary of APF in Server and Rupesh Kumar Bista of Police were the best. All the best received 25,000 prizes.
The winner was awarded by Deepak Lama, Member-Secretary of Provincial Sports Development Council Bagmati, Manoj Kumar Mishra, Country Head of KNP Nerolek, the main sponsor, Gamali Khadka, Patron of the organizing institute and others.
