After suffering their seventh defeat in 9 matches, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai captaincy is almost certain not to reach the playoffs.

Despite losing Abhishek Sharma in the second ball of the innings, Hyderabad completed the target with 8 balls to spare. This is the third win in 9 matches for former runners-up Hyderabad.
