Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs in a dramatic match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket on Thursday as Jessel Hazlewood's brilliant bowling led the way.

Rajasthan needed 18 runs in the last 2 overs to win. But in the 19th over, Hedgewood dismissed Dhruv Jirel and Jofra Archer in consecutive balls and gave only 1 run, RCB made a great comeback in the game. In the last over, Yash Dayal dismissed Shivam Duve on the first ball and gave the home team victory at the cost of just 5 runs. Having got a target of 206 runs, Rajasthan lost 9 wickets and scored only 194 runs. 

This is RCB's first win of the ongoing season at home ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The team was defeated in all the previous three home games. After the victory, RCB climbed to the third position. The team has collected 12 points in 9 games. Top-placed Gujarat Titans and second-placed Delhi Capitals also have 12 points. This is Rajasthan's fifth straight defeat. With only 4 points in 9 games, Rajasthan's chances of reaching the playoffs are almost over. 

Hazlewood took the wicket of Simran Hetmyer for just 6 runs in the 17th over. Player of the match Hazlewood took 4 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Krunal Pandye took 2 for 31 runs in 4 overs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dayal took 1 each. 

In Yashasvi Jaiswal's aggressive innings, Rajasthan could not win the game despite losing 2 wickets in 9 overs and scoring only 110 runs. 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed for 16 runs after hitting 2 sixes in 12 balls. Jaiswal scored 49 runs in 19 balls. He hit 7 fours and 3 sixes. Nitish Rana was dismissed for 28 off 22 balls and captain Rian Parag for 22 off 10 balls. Jirel played 34 balls and scored 47 runs with 3 fours and a six. Hetmyer was out for 11 runs and Dubey was out for 12 runs. 

Earlier, RCB came into bat after losing the toss and scored 205 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. After Phil Salt was dismissed for 26 runs off 23 balls, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikal shared 95 runs in 9 overs. Kohli, who was in excellent form, scored 70 off 42 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes and Padikal scored 50 runs off 27 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Tim Debide scored 23 runs off 15 balls and got out on the last ball of the innings. Jitesh Sharma remained unbeaten on 20 runs with 4 fours off 10 balls. Sandeep Sharma took 2 wickets from Rajasthan.
