The departmental team APF Club has won the title of the first Lumbini Cup Invitational Women's Football Tournament. APF won the title by shocking the departmental rival Police Club at the Nepalgunj Stadium in the last minute.
APF won Friday's final 1-0. APF scored a goal in injury time in the competitive final at Nepalgunj stadium. APF's Geeta Rana scored the decisive goal. She was the player of the match. Earlier, APF had upset the police in the final of the National Women's League. APF defeated Rautahat FC team and Police defeated Tribhuvan Army Club to reach the finals.
APF has lifted the trophy with a prize of 5 lakh 5 thousand 555 rupees. Being the runner-up, the police received a prize of 250,000. The best player was APF captain Anita Basnet. She received 25 thousand. Best goalkeeper Usha Nath of Police, best defender Geeta Rana of APF, midfielder Saru Limbu of APF, best striker Anita KC of APF and best coach of APF Bhagwati Thapa were declared. They received Rs. 10,000 each.
No team has been able to defeat APF since 2079. Police, who became champions at that time, have been without a title since then. Since then, APF has won the women's league twice. APF won the Elam and Chitwan Gold Cups.
8 teams from Nepal and India participated in the competition organized by Interal in collaboration with Banke District Football Association.
