Nepal Basketball Association (NEBA) is going to organize Himalayan Java Basketball League (HJBL) in collaboration with Himalayan Java.

The first ever basketball league will be held from May 20. NEBA President Bhimsingh Gurung said in a press conference on Thursday that 6 teams will participate in the competition. Times Club, Hounds Club, Goldengate Club, Royals, Kirtipur Basketball Club and Samakhusi Club will compete in the tournament.

Himalayan Java Basketball League will run for 6 weeks. The game will be played on the weekend. There will be games every Saturday and Sunday. President Gurung said that depending on the weather conditions, games can be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

match will be in double round robin league. Each team will play against the other team twice. The league games will be played on the outdoor volleyball court.

Although the plan is to play in home and away format, due to the weather conditions, they are going to play at the same venue, President Gurung said that Rakhep Covered Hall and Kirtipur Covered Hall are also options. There will be two playoff games in the

final. An agreement has already been reached between Nepal Basketball Association and Himalayan Java for the basketball league project. He said that

is going to do the weekend league for the first time as a test. The organizer said that there is an estimated budget of 1.5 million for the competition and it can increase further.
