APF and Nepal Police Club won the 8th KNP Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial National Women's Volleyball Tournament.
Former champions APF defeated Tribhuvan Army Club in straight sets 25-20, 25-13, 25-16 in the Group 'A' league match at Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwar. APF is a six-time winner.
Police defeated former winners New Diamond Sports Club by 25-14, 25-22, 25-13 in Group 'B' of the tournament organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation. As there are only two teams in Group B of the five-team competition, the police has reached the semi-finals as the winner. New Diamond also reached the semi-finals by becoming runners-up. There will be two
games on Thursday. There will be competition between Army and Everest Volleyball Club and APF and Everest. While inaugurating the
tournament, member-secretary Tanklal Ghising said that the foundation is contributing to the development of women's volleyball.
Women's national volleyball player Usha Bhandari was honored with 'Sher Bahadur Khadka Special Award' with 50,000. Since Usha was abroad, her parents accepted the honor. Volleyball head coach Jagdish Bhatt was also honored with 50,000 in cash. Member-Secretary Ghising, Patron of the Foundation Gamali Khadka and President of the Foundation Ranjan Khadka honored them. The winner of the
competition will receive a cash prize of Rs.
The best player will be awarded 50,000 while the best setter, defense, server, libero, spiker and coach will be given 25,000. The Player of the Match of each game will receive Rs.15,000. The final will be on Saturday.
