The Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor's Cup ward-level football tournament will be held from May 3rd.
The organizer has informed through a press conference that the preparations for the competition, which is being conducted under the project of Hetaunda's economic support and city sports development committee of the sub-metropolitan city, have been advanced.
The winner of the competition, which will be held at Pipley-Kampa Stadium located in Hetaunda-5, will receive 250,000 rupees and the runner-up will receive a trophy and certificate with cash of 200,000 rupees. Rabindra Prasad Ghimire, Chairman of City Sports Development Committee, informed that the best player will receive 20,000 rupees and the best forward, midfield, defense, goalkeeper and coach will receive a trophy with the same cash amount of 10,000 rupees.
The prize money has been increased this year as the winner got 2 lakh rupees and the runner-up got 1.5 lakh rupees last year. Only the wards within the sub-metropolitan city will be allowed to participate in the competition. Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city has been organizing the Mayor's Cup football tournament every year to compete between the wards.
'We have been continuing the competition for the development of the sports field in addition to developing the spirit of cooperation between the players and the wards through sports', Ghimire, the chairman of the Municipal Sports Development Committee, said, 'We would also like to request all 19 wards and players to advance the preparations for the Mayor's Cup.' Hetaunda No. 4 Ward won the Mayor's Cup football tournament title held last year .
