Mahalakshmi municipality won the title of the fifteenth edition of the Presidential Running Shield competition held in Dhankuta. Mahalakshmi won the title for the second time in the competition organized by District Sports Development Committee.

Mahalakshmi won the first place with 31 gold, 25 silver and 8 bronze medals in the competition organized by Chaubise Rural Municipality and Punya Secondary School in Rajarani. Likewise, Dhankuta Municipality has won the second place with 18 gold, 16 silver and 30 bronze. Chaubise Rural Municipality, which is the third, has won 5 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze.  In the

competition, 66 gold, 66 silver and 138 bronze medals were contested. According to the organizers, the winner of each game will be able to participate in the state-level President's Running Shield competition. Yuvraj Katwal, principal and sports coordinator of Punya Mavi informed that more than 100 students from seven municipalities of Dhankuta participated in the competition for various competitions.

Rajkumar Chemjong, President of Chaubise Municipality, said that all municipalities of the district are coordinating the competition. The competition was inaugurated by Federal MP Rajendra Kumar Rai. 

The fourteenth edition was organized by Mahalakshmi Municipality, while the next year's competition will be organized by Sangurigarhi Rural Municipality.
