YRCC Cricket Club of Biratnagar has become the champion of the 4th Mills Cup Indo-Nepal T20 cricket tournament.
YRCC became champions for the second time in a row by defeating Hyper Cricket Club of Patna, India by 8 wickets in the final match held at Biratnagar Jute Mill Sports Ground on Saturday.
The winner YRCC received 2 lakh 1 thousand rupees in cash, while the runner-up Patna settled for 1 lakh 1 thousand rupees.
Earlier in the third edition of the competition, YRCC won the title by defeating Horizon Cricket Club of Biratnagar. After winning the toss at the Mills ground, Patna's team, which batted first, was bowled out for 101 runs in 16.3 overs.
Sudarshan Kumar scored the highest 46 runs for Patna. He faced 32 balls. Similarly, Purushottam Kumar scored 16 runs in 6 balls and Nand Kishore scored 11 runs in 16 balls. Other batsmen of the team could not reach double figures.
YRCC bowlers Hemant Dhami and Ram Naresh Giri took 3 wickets each with excellent performance. Hemant spent 32 runs in 4 overs while Ram took three wickets by giving away 13 runs in 3.3 overs.
YRCC chased the usual target of 102 runs and completed the target by losing 2 wickets in just 8 overs. Star batsman Imran Sheikh played a decisive role in the victory. He played an unbeaten innings of 72 runs off 32 balls, hitting 6 sixes and 7 fours. Imran was declared 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding performance and received a cash prize of Rs 3,000.
Similarly, Shubh Kansakar of YRCC contributed 12 runs in 7 balls and Lokesh Bam contributed 16 runs in 8 balls. Patna bowlers Rehan Das Gupta and Nand Kishore took 1 wicket each.
organized by Mills Cricket Club and Academy and held in conjunction with Provincial Sports Development Board of Koshi Province, a total of 12 teams including 6 from Nepal and 6 from India participated in this tournament. Naresh Giri of YRCC was declared the best player of the
competition. He got Rs 25,000 in cash. Horizon's Dipesh Kandel was awarded as the best bowler and Patan's Kumar as the best batter. They got 15,000 in cash.
