International Hockey Day is also celebrated in Nepal on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Nepal Hockey Association celebrated the day on Saturday in the presence of National Sports Council (Rakhep) Vice President Dhruv Acharya, officials of the association, players, coaches and others. Vice President Acharya gave his best wishes on the occasion of the day at the event held at Rakhep in Tripureshwar and said that the current working committee has done a commendable job to advance hockey.  

Hockey Association President Anil Sharma shed light on the past and present conditions of hockey in Nepal.

Suvarna Shrestha, a member of Rakhep Executive Committee and General Secretary of the Hockey Association, informed that land has been acquired in Dhulikhel to build a hockey stadium and said that preliminary work is going on to build the infrastructure. She also informed that the competition will be held from May 15th at Chaisal in Lalitpur .

The hockey association was registered as the seventh association in the year 2011. FIH was founded in 1924 . FIH has 140 member countries
