Biratnagar and Itahari will compete for the title of Mayor Cup inter-municipal cricket

Biratnagar Metropolitan City and Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City will compete for the title of the second edition of the Mayor's Cup inter-municipal level cricket tournament.

Biratnagar defeated Damak Municipality by 8 wickets in the final semi-final match held at Janata Cricket Stadium located in Itahari-9 on Saturday and confirmed the title clash with Itahari. Itahari has already secured a place in the final with a 42-run victory over Mai municipality of Ilam on Friday.  

Pursuing the winning target of 90 runs presented by Damak, Biratnagar completed it easily losing 2 wickets in 10.5 overs . For Biratnagar, Minas Thapa scored 38 not out and Chirag Shah scored 20 runs to win the team . Before that, when Shakib Haque scored 10 runs, Biratnagar got an additional 14 runs. Chabilal Khadka took both wickets for Damak.

Damak, who won the toss and batted first, could score only 89 runs in the scheduled 20 overs playing 18.3 balls. In Damak's innings, Himanshu Giri scored 24 runs, Sugam Budhathoki scored 21 runs and Avinash Singh scored only 10 runs. Amar Yadav of Biratnagar took 4 wickets while Kritik Kamat took 2 wickets. Amar Yadav of Biratnagar was declared as the man of the match and got a cash prize of Rs 1,500 and a trophy. The title clash between Biratnagar and Itahari will take place on Sunday. According to the organizer Seven Star Club, the winner of the tournament with participation of 18 municipalities of Koshi province will get 1 lakh rupees and the runner-up team will get 50,000 rupees.
