The first Elite Volleyball Cup has started in Pokhara organized by Elite Volleyball Academy. Gandaki Province Sports Council Vice President Dhoj Kumar Gurung inaugurated the competition at the academy located in Nadipur, Pokhara Metropolitan City-3.
Aruna Shahi, the tournament coordinator and captain of the national women's volleyball team, informed that on the first day on Friday, the organizer Elite Academy won for men and Prithvi Narayan Campus won for women. Elite defeated Srikrishna Dal Gana in a set of 3-2. On the women's side, Prithvi Narayan Campus defeated Mahendra Secondary School by 3-0 in straight sets. Prithvi Narayan Campus has entered the semi-final.
The winner of the men's side will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with 1 lakh rupees. The runner-up will get a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs 50,000. The winner of the women's side will get 50,000 rupees, the runner-up will get 25,000 rupees along with a trophy, medal and certificate, she told coordinator Shahi. In the
competition, the best male player will be awarded Rs 5,000, the best female player will be awarded Rs 3,000, the best male player will be awarded Rs 2,000 and the female player will be awarded Rs 1,500.
14 men's and 8 women's teams are participating in the competition, which will last until May 1. Organizers have said that the money saved from the tournament will be used to provide tuition fees for 2 female players in classes 11 and 12.
