Nepal defeated Qatar by 8 wickets in the first match of the T20I series which started today in Hong Kong.
Batting first, Nepal completed the target of 152 runs given by Qatar in 17 overs with the loss of only two wickets.
Opener Kushal Bhurtel scored the highest 38 runs for Nepal. He hit four fours and three sixes while playing 19 balls. Similarly, captain Rohit Paudel scored 37 runs not out while opener Ashif Shaikh scored 33 runs. Basir Ahmed also contributed 30 runs not out.
Both wickets for Qatar were taken by Mujeeb Ur Rehman. Before that, Qatar, who lost the toss and were invited to bat first, lost 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and made a total of 151 runs.
Captain Ikramullah Khan contributed the most 54 runs for Qatar. He played 54 balls and hit 2 sixes and 5 fours.
Similarly, Shahjeeb Jamil scored 31 runs, Mujeeb Ur Rehman scored 20 not out, Mohammad Irshad scored 18 not out and Arumuganesh Nagarjan scored 13 runs.
Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Nandan Yadav, Gulshan Jha and Lalit Rajvanshi took 1/1 wicket for Nepal. Captain Rohit Paudel won the toss and chose to field first.
