On the first day of Surya Nepal NPGA Match-Play Golf, number one pro Bhuvan Nagarkoti and number two Neeraj Tamang won by a wide margin and made it to the quarterfinals.

Defending champion Dinesh Prajapati, Dhan Bahadur Thapa, Ravi Khadka, Pradeep Kumar Lama, Toranvikram Shahi and Rame Magar also reached the quarterfinals. Bhuvan beat 16th ranked Pashupati Sharma 5-4 at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Tuesday. After winning four holes, he will now play against Dhan Bahadur Thapa in the quarterfinals.

Eighth ranked Dhan defeated ninth ranked Bhuvan Kumar Rokka. Both were tied until the end of the 17th hole amid tough competition. Dhan reached the last four by winning the 18th hole.

Nepal's number two pro Neeraj easily beat 15th ranked Surya Prasad Sharma 5-4. Neeraj, who won the first round before four holes, is in the race to win the third title this season. He will play the quarter-final against seventh ranked Rame Magar. Ramey defeated 10th ranked Deepak Magar with a score of 4-3.

Third ranked Dinesh beat 14th ranked Ramesh Adhikari 4-3. He will meet experienced Toranvikram Shahi to reach the semi-finals. 11th ranked Toran defeated 6th ranked Jairam Shrestha 3-2.

4th ranked Ravi Khadka defeated 13th ranked Tank Bahadur Karki 3-2 and secured a place in the quarterfinals. Ravi will now play 12th ranked Pradeep Kumar Lama. Pradeep got a 2-1 result against the fifth ranked Sanjay Lama.

16 professional golfers are competing based on the order of merit for the year 2023-24. The title winner will win 60,000. The second will win Rs 42,000, the third will win Rs 32,000 and the fourth will win Rs 24,000.
