Lumbini defeated Dang Palpa in the state level Twenty20 cricket tournament-2081 and entered the semi-finals. Dang's Tul Bahadur Thapa performed an all-rounder to defeat Palpa.

Ghorahi-17 Palpa, chasing a winning target of 163 runs at the Ghorahi Cricket Stadium in Gulria on Tuesday, scored only 146 runs for the loss of 6 wickets after playing the scheduled 20 overs, Dang won by 16 runs.

Nar Bahadur Sarki and Leela Sharma shared 86 runs for Palpa in a very competitive match, but after Dang made a great comeback, Palpa was eliminated from the quarterfinals. Needing 22 runs from 10 balls, Palpa's Leela Sharma was run out by Kishan Bharti's throw from long-on, which became the foundation of Dang's victory. In the 19th over, Bir Bahadur Gharti of Dang broke Palpa's partnership and won. After Palpa's Leela got out in 18.3 overs, another set batter Nar Bahadur Sarki was bowled out in 18.4 overs.

Leela scored 46 runs off 34 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 4 fours. Similarly, Nar Bahadur scored 45 runs in 23 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours. Palpa's Manish Neupane scored 13 runs, Rupesh Basyal and Bipin Khati added 6 runs each. Dang's Kishan Bharti took 2 wickets with 5 runs in 2 overs. Bir Bahadur Gharti, Rajkumar Kumal and Tul Bahadur Thapa took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Tul Bahadur Thapa scored an unbeaten 63 runs for Dang who lost the toss and was invited to bat first. This is also the second half-century in the ongoing tournament. Dang scored 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Tul Bahadur added 63 unbeaten runs in 30 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 3 fours.

Manoj Pun 30 runs in 36 balls,  Shishir DC scored 24 runs in 27 balls, Bir Bahadur Gharti scored 11 runs in 6 balls and Kishan Bharti contributed 7 runs in 10 balls. Palpa's Keshav Pahria took 2 wickets while Bipin Bhattarai, Nar Bahadur Sarki and Rupesh Basyal took 1 wicket each. Dang's Tul Bahadur Thapa became the player of the match in the tournament.

The competition, organized for the first time by the sports council of the state government, is being held at two playgrounds in Ghorahi and Lamhi in Dang.  The member secretary of Lumbini Province Sports Council, Thirandaj Gautam, said that the competition which will run till March 28 will determine the basis for the selection of players for the 10th national sports competition to be held in May next along with the development of the players' abilities. To identify the talented players in the districts not recognized by the Nepal Cricket Association CAN  He said that the objective was set by the competition.
