Pokhara wins in NSL

In Nepal Super League (NSL) football on Saturday, Pokhara Thunders got their first win after the previous edition's winner Lalitpur City and runner-up Dhangadhi FC played a goalless draw.

Lalitpur and Dhangadhi shared 1-1 points in the second match at Dasharath Stadium on Saturday. Lalitpur has scored 5 points from 3 matches. Earlier, Lalitpur, the former winner, had tied 2-2 with Kathmandu, and in the next match, they won 3-2 against Pokhara Thunders.

Dhangadhi has collected 4 points from 2 matches. Dhangadhi beat Butwal-Lumbini FC 4-1 in their first match. Dhangadhi could not maintain the goal rhythm of the first game against Lalitpur. Lalitpur also created goal opportunities but could not use them. With five minutes remaining in the first half, the referee Prajwal Chhetri showered yellow cards when there was a dispute between the players of both teams. Two players from Lalitpur, Sanish Shrestha and Papa Kebe, one player from Dhangadhi, Mohammad LJ and coach Hunwa Martinez were given yellow cards. 

Pokhara defeated Kathmandu Razors 2-0 in the first match of the day. Having tasted victory in the third match, Pokhara had previously lost two matches in a row. The second match against Lalitpur was tense. Pokhara lost the game 2-1. 

Pokhara lost 2-0 against FC Chitwan in the first match. Kathmandu's first defeat. Kathmandu has only 2 points from 3 games. This has made Kathmandu's playoff journey difficult. Kathmandu, which drew 2-2 with Lalitpur, played goalless with Jhapa FC. 

Pokhara took the lead in the 25th minute at the stadium on Saturday. Stephan Samir Binong scored a header after Sidestone Zafro had set up a ball. The second goal was scored in the 58th minute. Ayush Ghalan of Pokhara beat the opposing defender and Sudil Rai's cross was deflected to Alizon Alizonov of Kathmandu and turned into a goal. 

Pokhara paid a penalty in the first half. In the 33rd minute, Kathmandu captain Kuldeep Karki tackled Stephen Samir inside the box and referee Shyam Danuwar gave a penalty opportunity. But Samir's penalty kick was saved by goalkeeper Abhishek Baral by diving. Kathmandu missed some good chances early on. 

Sunday will be a match between Jhapa FC and FC Chitwan.
