Homalal and Sunsari win Trishuli Ultra Race

Army runners Homalal Shrestha and Sunsari Rokaya have won the 55 km Trishuli Ultra Race title.

In the ultra race organized by the Nepal Adventure Running Federation, Homalal completed the prescribed distance in 4 hours 33 minutes 22 seconds. Army's Gopal Tamang finished second with 4 hours 35 minutes 57 seconds and Solukhumbu's Arjun Kulung Rai finished third with 4 hours 41 minutes 40 seconds. Tilak Bahadur Sunwar of Army, Shaktiram Rokka of Rukum, Rajesh Uparkoti of Trishuli, Rajendra Tamang of APF, Junesh Khadka of Army, Sher Tharu of Nabil Bank and Durgaraj Budha of Rukum were ranked fourth to tenth respectively.

Sunsari spent 5 hours and 51 minutes to complete the prescribed distance in the women's competition held with the support of Bagmati State Sports Development Council. Nirmala Rai of Khotang came second with a time of 6 hours 13 minutes 24 seconds. Police's Lakpa Nima Sherpa, who came third, clocked 7 hours, 14 minutes and 20 seconds.

The top three winners in both male/female categories won prizes of 1 lakh, 75 thousand and 50 thousand rupees respectively. 20,000 for the fourth, 10,000 for the fifth and 3,000 for the sixth to tenth place.

The winner was awarded by Bahadur Singh Lama, Chief Minister of Bagmati province, Deepak Lama, Member-Secretary of Bagmati State Sports Development Council, Prabha Bogti, Deputy Mayor of Vidur Municipality, Ekendra Bahadur Kunwar, President of Organizer Nepal Adventure Running Federation, Janaksingh Dhami, member of Rakhep and others.  

Chief Minister Lama expressed the view that Ultra Race will help in promoting and identifying the tourist spots of any region and said that the support of the Bagmati Province Government will continue in the coming days.

President Kunwar informed that the Federation is moving ahead with preparations for a large ultra race project in Khaptad. He promised to continue Trishuli Ultra Race. The

race started from Belkotgarhi in Nuwakot and passed through Malakot, Sherakot, Nuwakot Darbar, Suryagarhi, Betravati and ended at Devighat temple in Nuwakot. According to Rajan Khatri, the coordinator of the race, 125 athletes, including 3 foreign athletes, are participating in the race.
