Communications and Information Technology Minister and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that for the development of sports in Pokhara, the tourism capital, it is necessary to build large infrastructure in Pokhara.
Today, while inaugurating the KP Oli Cup National Open T-20 Men's Cricket Tournament, which started on Saturday in Pokhara under the organization of Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, he said that since Pokhara has a lot of potential to become a center of sports, the government will give priority to building infrastructure.
He also promised to arrange a budget from the government for the next financial year for the construction of the necessary infrastructure in the cricket ground inside the Pokhara stadium. "This year, the maximum budget will be allocated for the cricket ground, if there is a proposal from the Ministry of Sports, I will insist on it," said Minister of Communications Gurung.
He said that it is necessary to build big infrastructure for sports like cricket and football in Pokhara. He said, 'An international level stadium should be built in a beautiful place like Pokhara. Sports infrastructure is important for diplomatic reasons. Pokhara can even become a balanced place for some countries.'
He said the players, clubs, Expressing his best wishes to the coaches and referees, he expressed his belief that good and capable players will be produced from the competition.
Madan Bhandari Sports Academy's president Dhuvra Acharya informed that a total of 16 teams participated in the tournament which started at Pokhara stadium cricket ground. The competition will be conducted till the 5th of Baisakh. The winner of the competition will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs. 10 lakh and the runner-up will receive Rs.
Similarly, the best player of the tournament will receive 30,000 rupees, the best bowler and the best batsman will receive 10,000 rupees and the "player of the match" will receive 5,000 rupees, according to the academy. The competition is named after Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli, who is also the patron of the academy.
