Huge target for Nepal by Afghanistan U-19

Nepal U-19 has got a target of 301 runs to win the first youth ODI match against Afghanistan U-19. After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Afghanistan U-19 managed to score 300 runs by losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 50 overs at Moolpani Cricket Ground.


Faisal Shinozada scored the highest 97 runs from Afghanistan. He was dismissed by Santosh Yadav after coming close to a century and hit 9 fours and 4 sixes in 88 balls. When Uzerullah Nizai hit 2 fours and 1 six off 22 balls and was dismissed for 24 runs, Shinozada shared 154 runs with opener Khalid Ahmadzai for the second wicket.


Ahmadzai played 107 balls and scored 76 runs with 6 fours. Captain Mahbub Khan was cut and bowled by Santosh for 9 runs. Bakrat Ibrahimzai scored 35 off 26 balls with 2 fours and a six, Azizullah Mia Khil scored 21 off 20 balls with 2 fours and Nazifullah Amiri scored 10 runs off 7 balls with 1 six.


Abdul Aziz scored 15 runs with 1 six off 10 balls. It was he who hit Dayanand Mandal for a six on the last ball of the innings and took Afghanistan's score to 300 runs. Devrehate spinner Santosh from Nepal spent 64 runs in 10 overs and took 3 wickets. Abhishek Tiwari took 2 wickets for 61 runs in 8 overs and Dayanand and Bipin Sharma took 1 wicket each.


The U-19 teams of Nepal and Afghanistan are playing this series of three matches during the preparations for the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier which will start next week in Mulpani. Afghanistan U-19 is coming to Nepal for the first time and playing the series.
